​Grazie alla volontà della dott.ssa Ayesha Sohail (PhD in Matematica e responsabile del settore di ricerca in "Computational Biology and Numerical Analysis of Engineering Problems" presso COMSAT University) e del dott. Alessandro Nutini (Neurobiologo e collaboratore di ricerca in Modelli Matematici in Biologia con la dott.ssa Sohail), nasce il "Biomedical Engineering and Data Science Group CUI & Lucca Lab" (B.E.D.S.L. Lab), laboratorio interdisciplinare di Data Science in Biologia. Lo scopo del laboratorio è l'analisi dati e la modellizzazione di fenomeni biologici legati sia ad eventi patologici che fisiologici. L'unicità di questo laboratorio è la profonda interdisciplinarietà e interattività tra le varie discipline sia biologiche che afferenti alla Biomeccanica con particolare attenzione alla patofisiologia del cancro ed ai processi infettivi. Il Centro Studi Attività Motorie ospita la sezione inerente l'analisi biologica.
La dott.ssa Ayesha Sohail, oltre ad essere co-fondatore del laboratorio assieme al dott. Alessandro Nutini, è la responsabile dei progetti mentre il dott. Alessandro Nutini è direttore delle attività.

Thanks to the will of dr. Ayesha Sohail (PhD in Mathematics and head of the research sector in "Computational Biology and Numerical Analysis of Engineering Problems" at COMSAT University) and dr. Alessandro Nutini (Neurobiologist and research collaborator in Mathematical Models in Biology with Dr. Sohail), the "Biomedical Engineering and Data Science Group CUI & Lucca Lab" (BEDSL Lab), interdisciplinary laboratory of Data Science in Biology . The aim of the laboratory is data analysis and modeling of biological phenomena linked to both pathological and physiological events. The uniqueness of this laboratory is the profound interdisciplinarity and interactivity between the various disciplines both biological and related to Biomechanics with particular attention to cancer pathophysiology and infectious processes. The Centro Studi Attività Motorie hosts the section concerning biological analysis.

dr. Ayesha Sohail, in addition to being co-founder of the laboratory together with Dr. Alessandro Nutini, is the project manager while dr. Alessandro Nutini is director of activities.
